Loans - Here We Are. An exhibition to celebrate the Burberry September collection, Old Sessions House, Clerkenwell Green
The Hyman Collection is pleased to be one of the largest lenders to a special exhibition celebrating British photography.
Here We Are celebrates the very best of British photography on the occasion of Burberry's September collection for men and women. When creating this collection Burberry's President and Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey drew inspiration from social portraiture in 20th century British photography - particularly by photographers who have set about documenting the many and varied tribes, clans and classes that make up this island of ours, and the humourous, spirited and eccentric way in which the British dress.

Anna Fox. The Moon and a Smile
The Hyman Collection is pleased to have acquired three new photographs by Anna Fox made in response to a commission by the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery in Swansea. The Moon and a Smile exhibition was based on the contempoary responses of nine photographers to a period in the 1840s and 1850s, when Swansea was at the centre of early experiments in photography worldwide. In particular, the Dillwyn family circle was prolific in the development of photography, especially Mary Dillwyn and John Dillwyn Llewellyn. Commissioned by Glynn Vivian, the nine international artists created new work for the exhibition, alongside a display of 19th century photography.

They are grouped around the central themes of Brandt's oeuvre and include photographs related to the three seminal books that established his reputation: The English at Home (1936), A Night in London (1938) and Camera in London (1948), as well as wartime photographs of ruined streets and people sheltering in the tunnels of the London Underground; nudes from Perspective of Nudes (1961) and celebrity portraits that include little known images of Henry Moore and Francis Bacon.
